January–July: Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan Oil Transit via Baku Accounts for 16.2%
Oil transit from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline made up 16.2% of the pipeline’s total throughput in January–July. Citing the State Statistics Committee, the share of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan’s transit oil amounted to 2.6 million tons, Interfax-Azerbaijan reported on Friday. Azerbaijani oil accounted for 83.6%, or 13.5 million tons. During the reporting period, the total volume of oil transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline reached 16.2 million tons. The 1,768-kilometer BTC pipeline carries crude oil from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean, starting in Baku, Azerbaijan, crossing Georgia, and terminating at the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
