Turkmen Foreign Minister Discusses Cooperation with West African Counterparts
Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held separate phone conversations on July 1, 2025, with Bakari Yaou Sangaré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Nigeriens Abroad of the Republic of Niger, and Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabè Abroad of Burkina Faso, according to Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry. During the call with Burkina Faso’s foreign minister, the two sides discussed prospects for bilateral relations, emphasizing the potential for strengthening cooperation in political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. They also reviewed collaboration within multilateral frameworks, particularly the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The ministers further exchanged views on preparations for the upcoming Third Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries, set to be held this August in the Awaza National Tourist Zone. In the conversation with Niger’s foreign minister, both sides explored opportunities to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Special attention was also given to the preparations for the Third Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries scheduled in Turkmenistan later this year.
