New heights of Turkmenistan's Oil and Gas Industry

The energy policy of our country, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and currently successfully implemented under the leadership of the Esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, is aimed at the comprehensive development of the oil and gas industry, its consistent integration into the international energy system, and the creation of new technologies providing for more efficient and environmentally friendly methods of energy resource extraction and use.

As it is known, Turkmenistan, possessing rich reserves of hydrocarbon resources, aims to significantly increase the directions of energy supplies. In this regard, the effective use of the industry's enormous potential, the supply of Turkmen natural gas to foreign markets, the implementation of new infrastructure projects for the further prosperity of our Motherland, and ensuring the well-being of our people are among the important directions of the country's energy strategy.

The international cooperation and investment policy of Turkmenistan in the oil and gas sector demonstrate its commitment to international agreements, the diversification of the national economy, and national programs designed to bring the state to advanced levels. Stability in the state's domestic and foreign policy plays a decisive role in attracting investors from around the world. As a result, foreign investments are successfully used today in developing the oil and gas industry. Currently, Turkmenistan is actively developing its capabilities for gas and oil processing. This indicates that the benefits obtained from hydrocarbon exports for the country's economy will increase even more in the future.

Indeed, work continues on identifying and developing new oil fields and improving the production structure of the oil industry through the use of modern technologies that help increase the volume of extracted oil. The petrochemical industry is also being effectively developed. Necessary measures are being taken to increase the volume and variety of products that supply the domestic market and form the raw material base of the fuel and energy complex, and to bring the quality of products in line with world standards.

The Esteemed President emphasizes that in the modern world, the stability of the global economy depends on energy stability, and energy supply should not serve political interests; otherwise, no state can be secure. From the high podium of the UN, Turkmenistan consistently puts forward initiatives for the reliable transit of energy resources. The Resolutions titled "Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy Resources and Its Role in Ensuring Sustainable Development and International Cooperation," developed at the initiative of Turkmenistan and adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 19, 2008, and May 17, 2013, are the results of our state's diplomatic success and recognition by the world community. Furthermore, the Resolution "The Key Role of Reliable and Stable Energy Connectivity in Ensuring Sustainable Development," adopted by the General Assembly on December 15, 2025, further strengthens the foundation of global energy security.

The stable economic and political situation in Turkmenistan and the established relevant legal framework are important conditions for the increasing attractiveness of our country for foreign investors. Special attention is also paid to attracting investments for the development of oil fields in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

As is well known, oil is an important base for the chemical industry. This valuable raw material is used in the production of clothing, footwear, plastic products, paints, and electrodes for metallurgy. Turkmen polyethylene, used as a raw material for producing technical and household items—coatings, bags, communication pipes, and electrical cable insulation—enjoys high demand. Compared to acids, alkalis, and oils, polyethylene is distinguished by its high strength, durability, hardness, chemical stability, and dielectric properties. Therefore, it is used to manufacture household chemicals, barrels, toys, dishes, kitchen and bathroom items, sewing and furniture products, parts for automobiles and household appliances, and materials for large-scale structures such as wells and overpasses.

The Turkmenbashy Complex of Oil Refineries and the Seydi Oil Refinery play an important role in expanding the scope of the oil and gas industry. As a result, the production of hydrogen fuel, biofuel, high-octane motor gasoline, aviation, lighting and technical kerosene, liquefied gas, various types of diesel fuel, technical lubricating oils, polypropylene, calcined electrode coke, and road and construction bitumen has been established. It is necessary to note the importance of deep and comprehensive processing of natural gas in ensuring high rates of oil and gas production in the country through the use of new technologies and methods. In this regard, developing mutually beneficial cooperation, exchanging advanced technologies within new environmental standards, attracting new investments for purchasing modern equipment, and creating environmentally safe production facilities are among the priority directions in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The year «Independent neutral Turkmenistan − the homeland of purposeful winged horses» is marked by success from the very beginning. Among the production enterprises that honorably fulfilled the tasks set last year, the Turkmenbashy Complex of Oil Refineries of the "Turkmennebit" State Concern in the city of Turkmenbashy, Balkan velayat, holds a worthy place. The specialists and workers of the complex demonstrated particular efficiency in processing hydrocarbon raw materials and producing various types of high-quality oil products throughout the past year.

At this modern industrial enterprise, which possesses powerful facilities and advanced technologies meeting world standards, the pace of work is increasing day by day. The fact that almost all work at the refinery complex is managed in an automated way is of great importance for specialists and workers to fulfill and exceed the set plans. As a result of coordinated efforts, 4 million 955 thousand 700 tons of "black gold" received via pipelines and sea routes were processed at the complex last year, achieving a growth of 107.9 percent in this regard. 1 million 484 thousand 900 tons of various types of gasoline, 434 thousand tons of kerosene, 1 million 539 thousand 800 tons of diesel fuel, 124 thousand 200 tons of liquefied gas, 57 thousand 600 tons of polypropylene, 54 thousand 100 tons of lubricating oils, and 458 thousand 400 tons of petroleum bitumen were produced.

At this facility, which has a production capacity of 90 thousand tons of polypropylene per year, all installed technologies and equipment fully comply with world standards, and dozens of specialists work there around the clock at an unflagging pace. Their automated management of polypropylene production has a positive impact on the honorable fulfillment of planned targets.

In the current era, Turkmenistan, actively introducing innovative technologies and leading international experience into the oil and gas complex, attaches great importance to the development of relations based on trust, respect, and mutual benefit with large foreign companies and business structures.
