The preparations for the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, scheduled for March 22-23 in Islamabad, were discussed by the Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Pakistan by phone on Monday.

Rashid Meredov and Mahmud Qureishi noted the importance of this forum for strengthening cooperation in solving topical issues of regional and international problems.

The diplomats confirmed their readiness to contribute to the implementation of the agreements reached during contacts at the top, first of all, during the meeting of Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Arif Alvi on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization summit in November 2021 in Ashgabat.

Particular attention was paid to the practical issues of implementing the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline projects and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power lines and fiber-optic communications, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

The day before, on January 23, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hussein Ibrahim Taha received at the headquarters of the OIC in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the OIC, Ambassador Orazmukhamed Charyev.

The Secretary General highly appreciated the contribution of Turkmenistan to the work of the OIC and the promotion of joint efforts.
