Scientists of Turkmenistan are working on the issue of reducing methane emissions

The Scientific Research Institute of Natural Gas of the State Concern “Turkmengas” and the Institute “Nebitgaztaslama” of the State Concern “Turkmenneft” are working on the issue of reducing methane emissions. Ashirguly Begliyev, Advisor to the President of Turkmenistan on oil and gas issues, reported this during a Government meeting on Friday, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

Scientists have developed a number of specific measures to reduce methane emissions, including through the introduction of modern environmentally friendly technologies in the energy sector, industry and transport, Begliyev said.

The goal of these initiatives is to fulfill the terms of the Global Methane Commitment, which Ashgabat plans to join during the upcoming 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-28).

Summarizing the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov focused on the need for further development of scientific institutes in the oil and gas industry. Noting the importance of using the latest scientific and technological achievements in their work, the head of state ordered to effectively apply the recommendations of scientists in the activities of state concerns.

The institutes of the state concerns “Turkmengas” and “Turkmenneft” are conducting research to identify promising areas of geological exploration, prepare justifications for searching and studying fields, assessing geological developments, modernizing drilling equipment and technologies, calculating gas, gas condensate and oil reserves. Based on the results obtained, proposals are developed for implementation in organizations of the fuel and energy complex.
