Development of Galkynysh Phase 4 in Turkmenistan to Continue with CNPC

During a Cabinet meeting on March 20, a draft document on the further development of Turkmenistan’s gas sector and the expansion of its export potential—specifically the development of Phase 4 of the Galkynysh gas field—was presented to the President.

Deputy Prime Minister G. Agajanov reported on the outcomes of meetings between leaders of the country’s oil and gas sector and the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), held during the friendly visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to China. The discussions focused on advancing productive cooperation in the gas sector.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the visit also addressed prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas industry, particularly the development of Phase 4 of the Galkynysh field.

The implementation of this landmark project is expected to significantly increase natural gas production in the country and create numerous new jobs. The President signed a decree approving the development of Phase 4 of the Galkynysh gas field.

According to the President, the agreements reached on this phase mark a new stage in Turkmen–Chinese relations and will provide strong momentum for further bilateral cooperation.
